Independent hotel reference
Eighteen hotels, set down in order
This is an independent reference to eighteen hotels, arranged in four sections: buildings of ice and snow, hotels notable for their architecture, capsule and compact houses, and Canadian resorts. Everything here is drawn from published sources and written in plain terms. There are no prices, no stars and no reservations. Four of the eighteen addresses open only in winter.

How the list works
Every hotel here is a real, working address, named exactly as its operator names it. The wording comes from what hotels, architects and public records publish, and where a claim could not be confirmed it was rewritten until it could stand on its own. Nothing here is placed in order of merit or measured against anything else on this site.
What is absent is deliberate. There are no prices, no stars, no room counts, no reviews and no booking buttons, because those change faster than a written page can follow. The longer account of sources, method and corrections sits on the How the list works page.
